The picture below shows Toby Pugh just before he utilized the factory edge. He stated that it made "short order" of the task at hand. The Faida is an artistic folder that is just as powerful as the MPC, but the profile of the blade is just dynamic. Don't get me wrong, it is strong enough for self defense, but it just has a look that you will not get from any other folder.

The Faida has been a favorite of those who continuely end up in harsh environments and need something that is dependable. But it is equally at home with the collectors. It has the same Forprene handle that is designed to mimic the feel of a hand grip on a pistol and it also boasts the popular "backlock."

I am going to go out on a limb and say, any collector of fine knives is not complete if he does not have a Faida (Faida means "Revenge" in Italian.) This knife is one of my favorites. You really should not be without one.

What's New 2007 - T3000 Tanto Series

Everyone keeps begging to know what are the new Extrema products and when are they coming out (especially those waiting for the new War Dog?) I will tell you about each knife (one every two weeks), but I am first going to introduce the T3000. This is a totally different fixed blade when compared to any other Extrema Ratio product. This is a long fixed tanto blade that is razor sharp and ready for heavy duty work. I saw these in Italy last summer and went ballistic. This series is not serrated and it certainly doesn't need to be. It is a modern tactical knife that incorporates the spirit of the samurai sword. But don't think for a minute this isn't an Extrema knife because is still forged from N690 Colbalt Stainless Steal and has the Forprene handle. There is one thing very unique to this knife. After it is sharpened, the cutting edge has an additional polishing treatment that makes this knife one of the sharpest in the group.

There will be four versions of this knife starting with the T300C, the T300S, the T300, and the incredible long T300M. The C is compact is a complete length of 8.267 inches, the S is 10.236 inches, the standard T3000 is 12.204 inches and the M is an amazing 18.897 inches. As with all Extrema knives it is a full tang and this series comes in Testudo or Geo Camo.

I haven't been given the prices yet, but I am mainly bringing the the C, the S and the 3000 to the United States. If you want one of these or if you insist on an M, then email me brent@quantumgroup.cc and I will send you pricing info when it comes and I will give you the date for the arrival of these incredible knives. This will be the first time they are available in North America.

Doberman III - Hard to Find, Easy to Use

The Doberman III is a knife that is extremely hard to find. The blade resembles the dog it is named after, sleek, athletic and dangerous. A Doberman means "stand back," and this blade is no different. After 2006, Extrema Ratio will no longer make this knife and we know of only 60 in North America today.

This knife will go up in value and today at $450.00 this knife is an incredible buy. The Doberman is 12 1/4 inches long and with the quarter inch N690 high performance cobalt stainless steel, this knife will dominate any competitor. The forprene handle feels like a gun grip and you will not drop this one in an important situation.

The sheath is constructed of a rigid ABS polymer and fit securely in place. You will not worry about your Doberman III falling out. With only 60 left in North America, you better get yours soon.

Extrema Ratio New Developments

Over the next few months, North America will have several new knives introduced by Extrema Ratio of Italy. The old standards are still exceptional and should be in everyone's collection. But, we are truly excited for a new line of folders, a new line of tanto fixed blades and other products that are going to be rolled out over the next nine months. As they become available, we will let people know by adding new sections to this blog and telling them where they can find them. We are also excited that knives that have been hard to find will also be made available in the coming weeks. The Doberman has been a knife that many have searched for, but could not find.

Maurizio Castrati (the man in the white coat) has worked hard to develop quality knives that are second to none. He has been honored by many of the European Special Forces for his knife design and dedication to producing true weapons. After meeting with him in Italy, I understood his commitment to producing the best products and making a knife that your life can depend on.

Recently, Tactical Knife has published articles on the RES, the Kukri and the Fulcrum Bayonet. The response for these products has been amazing. The thing is, all of the Extrema Ratio knifes are true works of cutlery art and each has something special about it. This blog will be dedicated to discussions on these knives and any other Extrema Ratio question.

If you have any questions or comments please add them to this entry.

Your Favorite Extrema Ratio Knife?

What is your favorite Extrema Ratio Knife?
